Burntwater rugs were first woven by the Dine' during the Modern Period from approximately 1940 through the present. Burnwater rugs can be considered an elaboration of the traditional Two Grey Hills design. They are distinguished by a rich combination of earth tones and pastels. Typically, warm colors such as brown, sienna, mustard and rust are accented with pale rose, green, blue, white and lilac.
Newlands rugs were first woven by the Dine' during the Modern Period from approximately 1940 through the present. The Newlands rug style is the most recent development on Dine' weaving. These rugs combine the intricate Teec Nos Pos design with a broad palette of the natural hues typically fund in the Burntwater rug. The design of the Newlands rug is typically enhanced with raised outlines.
